Ownership: When you purchase stocks, you acquire a share of ownership in the company. The more shares you own, the greater your ownership stake. 2. Types of Stock: - Common Stock: This is the most prevalent type of stock. Common shareholders typically have voting rights, allowing them to vote on corporate matters, such as electing the board of directors. They may receive dividends, which are a portion of the company’s profits distributed to shareholders, but these are not guaranteed. - Preferred Stock: This type of stock usually does not come with voting rights but has a higher claim on assets and earnings than common stock.
